AnthroGirl: Keshet is great and local! ( for me) They have a great mix of social and politcal programming. And Keshet means rainbow in Hebrew :)

The Worst Cities For College-Educated Women Trying to Find a Decent Date

Are you a young, college-educated woman? Are you looking to settle down one day with a young, college-educated man? A word of advice: Stay away from Sarasota, Florida.

AnthroGirl: This is of course if you only date men. If you happen to date women, this is much less of an issue especially in Boston/Cambridge for example.

I just found out that Margaret Mead and Ruth Benedict were not only best friends, but LOVERS too. And I am totally reading the book “The Kinship of Women” because I must know all of the details now and I need to see if this is a legitimate thing. Not that it really matters, it’s just cool to find out that two women that I look up to were lovers. I mean, damn.

#omfg #and people wonder why the queer community despises straight slasher fangirls #but noooooo they’re such supportive allies! #and seriously have never encountered a fandom as bad as this fandom #not to mention these are all a bunch of Americans who are completely clueless about how parlament works

for anyone who wants an overview of what is going on in regards to marriage equality in the uk, STFUstraightpeople has two primer posts on the process of uk lawmaking:

AnthroGirl: As a Queer Chick, I don’t find this particularly problematic. Sure, straight people can be annoying when they want to take credit for this that they didn’t do, or for being decent human beings, etc; however, shipping slash fanfiction is not that big a deal in my opinion. For fuck sake, I ship slash fanfiction. Also it is a running gag on the show that people think John and Sherlock are together. So my friends, I think this is just a little healthy fantasy. Sure let’s keep talking about the real progress first, but a little fun is okay. Also it is a bit presumptious to blame this on straight people. Clearly they like men, but straight? There are more than two sides to this coin.

I love my Yiddishe Mama

Went on a date with a nice young man, and I informed my mother that I would not be available to talk to her on the phone that evening because I had a date. My mother said to me ” with a girl, or a guy?” I informed her that I was going out on a date with a guy. ” Oh, really. Okay, have fun.” I swear, I think my mother is genuinely convinced that I am a lesbian. It is kind of adorable. Well, I guess she is half right.
